800ml · Flip Bowl · BPA-Free
Not a foldable cup. Not a regular sports bottle with a bowl glued to it. A travel bottle where the cap is the bowl — flip it open, the water flows in, the dog drinks, the unused water flows back. One hand, no balancing a separate bowl on a park bench in the rain.
The PawTrail 800ml dog travel water bottle is built for walks, hikes, car journeys, and the in-between moments when a dog needs water and there isn’t a tap. The flip-out drinking trough doubles as the cap: press the water-lock button, tilt the bottle, and water flows into the wide silicone-edged bowl. When the dog stops drinking, tilt the bottle back — the unused water returns through the same channel, the lock clicks shut, and you carry on walking. No spilled water in the bag, no rinsing a separate bowl on the move, no fumbling with two hands.
Which dog is this sized for?
Best for: small to large dogs on a normal active day — one to three hours of walking, a couple of drink breaks. The 9.5cm wide bowl edge suits most muzzle shapes. Cautious yes for very flat-faced breeds (pugs, French bulldogs, Pekingese) — the scoop edge can sit slightly high; tilt the bottle gently rather than holding it level so the water pools toward the dog. Refill on long days: 800ml covers a full active day for most dogs, but not quite enough for a Labrador in 25°C+ heat or a working spaniel on a four-hour hike — stop at a café tap halfway, or carry two.
PawTrail vs the alternatives
The honest comparison — what you get when you pick this over a separate cup-and-bottle setup, or relying on finding taps.

Prefer a bowl that packs completely flat with whatever bottle you already own? See PawTrek — the foldable silicone travel bowl with carabiner. Two different mechanisms for the same job; pick the one that fits your bag and your routine.
What you get in the box
- One 800ml PawTrail bottle — BPA-free plastic body, paw-print emboss, smoke-tinted so the fill level stays visible
- Integrated flip-out bowl — 9.5cm wide drinking trough doubles as the cap
- Water-lock button — press to release, click to seal, holds in normal bag-carry
- 1.5cm wide carabiner strap — clips to a belt loop, harness, or backpack ring (wider than the 0.7cm cord on cheaper lookalikes)
- Choice of three colours — Teal, Blue, or Pink, each with a smoke-grey body
How to use it on a walk
Honest notes on hot days, hygiene, and the small print:
Temperature. This is a plastic bottle, not an insulated thermos — water warms in summer sun. For 25°C+ days, fill with chilled water and keep the bottle in the shade side of the bag.
Hygiene. The water that flows back is fine for the rest of the same walk. At the end of the day, empty the bottle, rinse, and let it air-dry — don’t leave water sitting overnight. Hand wash is safer than the dishwasher (high heat can warp the cap-bowl seal over time).
Drop-resistance. Plastic, not steel. Survives normal bag-jostle and the occasional drop from waist height; won’t survive being dropped onto rocks from a high shelf. If you need rock-proof, go steel.

Frequently asked
Is 800ml enough water for my dog for a full walk?
For most dogs on a typical 1-3 hour walk: yes, with room to spare. For a Labrador or working spaniel on a hot day or a 4+ hour hike: probably not — plan a refill stop at a café or carry a second bottle. Rough rule: a dog drinks about 50-70ml per kg per day total (water + food moisture), and roughly a third of that during a long active walk in warm weather. An average 20kg dog on a 2-hour walk will use 200-400ml. 800ml leaves headroom for hotter days.
How leak-resistant is the water-lock button really?
In normal use — clipped to a bag or harness, walked, jostled, set down upright — the water-lock + flip-bowl seal holds. It’s not built for upside-down submersion in a backpack with your phone, and we don’t claim "leak-proof" because that’s an absolute. If you’re packing it into a daypack with electronics, point the cap upward and use the side mesh pocket rather than the main compartment.
Is the plastic BPA-free?
Yes — BPA-free food-grade plastic, confirmed by the supplier in writing. The bowl section is food-contact-safe for the water that touches it during a drink. Hand wash with mild soap, rinse, air dry — don’t leave water sitting in the bottle overnight (basic hygiene for any reusable bottle).
Is it dishwasher safe?
Hand wash is safer. The flip-bowl mechanism uses a silicone-edged seal that can warp under repeated dishwasher heat over time — you might get away with it for a while, but the leak-resistance degrades. Mild soap, warm water, a bottle brush, rinse, air dry — that’s the routine that keeps it sealing properly for years.
Will my pug or French bulldog be able to drink from it?
With a small adjustment, yes. The 9.5cm wide bowl edge is sized for typical muzzle shapes, so very flat-faced (brachycephalic) breeds — pugs, French bulldogs, Pekingese, boxers — sometimes find the front edge slightly high if you hold the bowl level. The fix: tilt the bottle a little more so the water pools toward the front of the trough, near the dog. Most flat-faced dogs adapt in a couple of drinks.
What’s the difference between this and a foldable silicone bowl with a separate sports bottle?
Different mechanisms for the same job. PawTrail is one-piece, one-handed, and the unused water flows back into the same bottle — nothing to rinse, nothing to drop. PawTrek (our foldable silicone bowl, sold separately) packs completely flat, weighs almost nothing, and works with any sports bottle you already own — but it’s a two-piece routine and any water the dog doesn’t drink goes onto the ground. PawTrail wins on convenience and not wasting water; PawTrek wins on packed size and using bottles you already carry.
Does the carabiner strap actually hold weight on a clip?
For clipping to a belt loop, harness D-ring, or backpack ring — yes. The strap is 1.5cm wide woven webbing with a metal split-ring — over twice the width of the 0.7cm cord most lookalikes ship with, so it doesn’t saw into the loop. It’s a carry strap, not a climbing carabiner — don’t suspend the full weight over rough terrain from a single thin loop, but for normal walk-carry it’s reliable.
Can I use it for myself if I run out of water?
It’s designed as a dog water bottle, but the plastic is BPA-free food-grade and the water never touches anything that hasn’t been hand-washed. If you’re out on a hot walk and you need a sip — pour into your own cup or your hand rather than drinking directly from the flip-bowl that the dog uses. Basic hygiene, no different to sharing any bottle.
