Size up for large-breed chewers. The S and M sizes are designed for small to medium dogs. A large or powerful dog could compress an S ball fully in their mouth — always choose a size where the toy can't fit entirely in the mouth.
The squeaker is built-in, not replaceable. If the squeaker eventually stops working from heavy use, the toy is still safe to use as a fetch or chew toy — it just won't squeak any more.
