Start with your ceiling height. If your room is between 250 and 270 cm floor to ceiling, any of the main tension pole variants will fit. Next, think about what your cat enjoys: if they love watching from an enclosed perch, choose a variant with the acrylic bubble seat. If they prefer a cosy nest, look for the rattan basket option. If you don't need the tension pole system — or your ceilings are lower — the PS001-2 is a traditional freestanding tree that works in any room. Still unsure? No drilling or fixings are used. The spring-tension ceiling plate distributes pressure evenly across a flat disc — similar in principle to a tension shower curtain rod. Most smooth, solid ceilings (plasterboard, concrete, timber) are compatible. We recommend placing a small protective pad between the ceiling plate and any delicate plaster finishes. If your ceiling has a textured or coving detail, measure to the lowest flat point.

The tension pole system is inherently rigid — it's under compression between two fixed surfaces, so it cannot tip over. The more a cat pushes off from a platform, the more secure the structure becomes. The platform weight limit is 5 kg per individual board. Most customers complete assembly in 30–60 minutes. The pole sections screw together and the platforms slot or clamp onto the pole. Once the height is set and the ceiling plate is tensioned, no further fixing is needed. We recommend two people for the final step of raising the pole to the ceiling — one to hold the base, one to adjust the tension at the top.

The PS001-2 is a traditional freestanding cat tree — it stands independently on its own base, requires no ceiling contact, and is suitable for any room with standard or low ceilings. It measures 53×50×145 cm and includes plush-covered platforms, a hammock, sisal scratching posts and an acrylic bowl. The tension pole models are a different concept: a single slim column anchored floor to ceiling, with a much smaller floor footprint, full sisal coverage, and significantly greater height. Both have sisal rope and solid wood construction.

Yes. Releasing the tension is straightforward — rotate the ceiling plate anticlockwise to reduce pressure, then lower the pole carefully. It can then be moved and re-tensioned in a new location, provided the ceiling height is within the correct range. If ceiling heights vary between rooms, choose the room with the height closest to the midpoint of the adjustment range for the most secure fit.

The sisal rope is wrapped tightly around the pole sections. While it is not a user-replaceable cartridge like some scratching posts, heavily used sections of rope can be rewrapped by winding fresh sisal twine (available separately) over the existing column.
