Not your household bath towels. A two-tone microfiber towel built for the actual job — drying a wet, wriggling animal who's about to shake water across the kitchen — instead of sacrificing another good towel from the linen cupboard.
The first time you use a PawDry instead of a regular bath towel, you notice the difference. A standard cotton terry towel is built to dry a person at a leisurely pace. Microfiber is built to absorb water fast — its split-fibre construction holds several times its weight in liquid and wicks it off your dog's coat in a single pass rather than three. You get most of the dog dry on the first wrap; the rest takes one quick rub.
The yellow face is the absorbent side — the surface that goes against the coat. The grey reverse is shorter-pile and stays drier in your hand. Black bound edges and a built-in hanging loop, so it goes back on the hook between uses rather than ending up balled up on the bathroom floor.
Why owners stop using their bath towels for the dog
1. It absorbs more in less time. Microfiber's split fibres pick up water faster than woven cotton terry. One PawDry generally dries a dog that would have taken two household bath towels — and you stop losing the good ones to muddy paws.
2. It's gentler on the coat. The longer-pile yellow face glides over the coat instead of dragging like an over-washed cotton towel. Better for long-haired and curly-coat breeds where matting is the worry.
3. It dries faster than a cotton towel does. When you wring it out and hang it on the loop, microfiber air-dries in a fraction of the time a cotton towel takes — so the dog towel is ready for next time, not still damp on the radiator.
At a glance
- Sizes: Small 30 × 30 cm · Medium 30 × 60 cm · Large 50 × 100 cm
- Colourway: Yellow face / Grey reverse, black bound trim, built-in hanging loop
- Material: Two-pile microfiber — split-fibre polyester / polyamide blend
- Absorbency: Holds several times its own weight in water (the supplier's beaker demo isn't fake — it's how microfiber works)
- Care: Machine-washable on a normal warm cycle — tumble dry on low. No fabric softener (it coats the fibres and reduces absorbency).
- Best for: Post-bath drying, post-walk in the rain, post-swim, post-mud, paw-wipes by the back door
- Less ideal for: Replacing fully air-drying for the densest double-coat breeds (Huskies, Newfoundlands, Bernese) — see honest note below
Which size for your pet
Pick by the size of the animal, not the weight. The towel needs to wrap around the dog at least once — that's where the absorbency lives.
| Size | Dimensions | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Small | 30 × 30 cm (hand-towel size) |
Cats, kittens, Chihuahuas, Yorkshire Terriers, Maltese, Pomeranians, Toy Poodle puppies. Also useful as a paw-wipe by the back door for any-size dog, or as a face-and-leg towel alongside a Large for the body. |
| Medium | 30 × 60 cm (kitchen-towel size) |
French Bulldogs, Pugs, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Cocker Spaniel puppies, Mini Schnauzers, Whippets, Border Collie puppies, adult Cockapoos under 10 kg. Or as a face-and-paw towel paired with a Large for big breeds. |
| Large | 50 × 100 cm (bath-towel size) |
Labradors, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Springer Spaniels, Border Collies, Staffies, English Bulldogs, Boxers, Huskies, Bernese, large Doodles, Bernedoodles, Standard Poodles. The one-towel-does-the-dog size for medium-and-up breeds. |
Multi-pet household? Most owners get one Large for the bath-day towel and one Small to keep by the back door for muddy paws and the post-walk wipedown. The two together cover almost every drying job a normal household has.
When you'll actually use it
- Post-bath — the obvious one. Wrap, blot, then a quick rub-down. Dogs that hate a hairdryer especially benefit.
- Post-walk in the rain — keep one by the back door. Five minutes with a PawDry beats letting a wet dog onto the sofa.
- Post-swim — beach, lake, river. Take a Large in the boot for the journey home.
- Post-mud — autumn / winter walks across fields. The Small or Medium handles a four-paw wipedown without using a bath towel.
- Travel and grooming — pop a Medium in the dog's day bag for caravans, holiday lets, agility days, and groomer visits.
- Multi-dog households — one towel per dog, hung on the same hook rail. The hanging loop makes this practical instead of a balled-up bathroom-floor situation.

Care
- Wash: machine washable on a normal warm cycle (40°C). Wash separately the first time — microfiber sheds a small amount of fibre on its first wash.
- Don't use fabric softener. It coats microfiber and reduces absorbency over time.
- Dry: tumble dry on low, or air-dry on the hanging loop. High heat shortens microfiber's lifespan.
- Use PawCatch laundry balls in the wash if you've got long-coat dogs — they pull stray fur off the towel before it goes through the rinse cycle.
Questions answered
Will it really dry my dog faster than a regular bath towel?
For most coats — yes, noticeably. Microfiber's split-fibre construction holds several times its own weight in water and wicks moisture off the coat on contact rather than relying on the towel to soak through. For single-coat breeds (spaniels, retrievers, poodles, most terriers) one PawDry usually does the whole job. For dense double-coat breeds (Huskies, Bernese, Newfoundlands) it dramatically shortens the air-dry stage but doesn't replace it — the undercoat needs air to dry through.
Which size should I get?
Pick by the size of your dog, not the weight. Small (30 × 30) — cats, kittens, very small breeds, or as a paw-wipe by the back door. Medium (30 × 60) — Frenchies, Pugs, Cavaliers, Cocker Spaniel puppies, anything up to ~10 kg. Large (50 × 100) — Labradors, Goldens, German Shepherds, full-size Doodles, Huskies, Bulldogs. If you're between sizes, go up — a slightly bigger towel wraps better, and the absorbency lives in the wrap.
Does it shed fibres?
A small amount on the first wash, like all new microfiber. Wash separately the first time and the rest of your laundry won't pick it up. After that, shedding is minimal. If you also use PawCatch laundry balls (sold separately), they catch most stray fur and fibre during the cycle so the towel comes out cleaner.
Can I tumble-dry it?
Yes — on low heat. High heat damages microfiber's split-fibre structure over time and reduces absorbency. If you can air-dry it on the hanging loop instead, it'll last longer.
Why no fabric softener?
Fabric softener leaves a chemical coating on textile fibres that softens them by reducing their ability to absorb water. On a regular cotton towel that's a fair trade. On microfiber, where absorbency is the whole point, it slowly ruins the towel. White vinegar in the rinse cycle is the alternative if you want a softer finish.
Is the colour just yellow, or are other colours available?
Just yellow with grey reverse and black trim — single colourway. We picked the colour that contrasts most against dog fur of all colours, so you can see how clean the towel actually is between washes. A white towel hides the grime; a yellow one shows you when it's time for a wash.
Can I use it for myself? For the car? For the gym?
Mechanically — yes, it's just a microfiber towel. Practically — once it's been the dog's towel, it stays the dog's towel. Pet hair embeds in microfiber over time, and you'll find it on your face if you cross-purpose it. Buy a separate one for the car or the gym.
