This isn't the steel that rusts after a rain walk. 316L is marine-grade — the same alloy used in surgical instruments and ocean-going hardware. Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the right size?

Measure the widest point of your dog's head — wrap the tape under the chin and around the back of the head, just behind the ears. Add 2–4 inches to that measurement and choose the closest size up. For example, a Dobermann with a 16-inch head measurement would suit a 20-inch collar. Greyhounds and Whippets with narrow skulls relative to their neck should go by head measurement, not neck size. If you're between sizes, always go larger.

Is this safe for my dog's skin?

Yes — both lead and nickel are certified at 0%. 316L surgical stainless steel is one of the most biocompatible metals available, which is why it's used in medical implants and piercings. Dogs that have reacted to cheaper alloy or zinc collars typically have no issues with 316L steel.

Can my dog wear this all the time?

No — slip collars should only be worn under supervision during walks or training. The slip mechanism is not suitable for leaving on unattended dogs or for attaching ID tags permanently. Use a separate buckle collar for everyday identification.

Will the plating wear off?

The 18K plating is thick and durable under normal walking conditions. To keep it looking its best, rinse off mud and dry it after wet walks, and avoid prolonged contact with salt water, chlorinated water, or household chemicals. With reasonable care, the finish holds up well for everyday use.

How do I put it on and take it off?

Hold the two rings — one large, one small. Pass the chain through the large ring to form a loop. Slip the loop over your dog's head, then attach your lead to the large ring.
