Quick answer: measure your dog's chest all the way round the widest part of the ribcage, then match it to the chart below. Breed examples are a helpful starting point, but your dog's own measurements always win.
How to measure your dog
- Chest: all the way round the widest part, just behind the front legs. This is the most important number.
- Neck: all the way round where a collar sits.
- Back length: from the base of the collar to the base of the tail.
Keep the tape snug but not tight, with room for two fingers underneath.
