The extra width spreads pressure across more of the neck instead of concentrating it in a thin line, which matters most on breeds that pull hard on the lead — Labradors, German Shepherds, and Weimaraners in particular. Measure, don't guess: Breed is a rough guide only — individual dogs vary a lot within a breed. Measure your dog's neck with a soft tape (snug, not tight) before choosing a size, and size up if you're between two.
Not for small or toy breeds: The smallest size starts at a 31cm neck. This collar isn't made for Chihuahuas, Pomeranians, or similar small breeds — the width alone would overwhelm a small neck.
Not leather: This is a padded polyester blend, not leather. It's lighter, easier to wipe clean, and doesn't need breaking in, but it won't develop the same worn-in look leather does over time.

Will this fit my dog?
It depends on neck size, not breed alone. M fits a 31–43cm neck (Border Collies, Springer Spaniels and similar), L fits 41–52cm (Labradors, German Shepherds), and XL fits 48–60cm (Dobermans, Weimaraners, Rottweilers). Measure your dog's neck with a soft tape before ordering rather than going on breed alone — there's real variation within every breed.
How do I clean it?
Wipe it down with a damp cloth for everyday dirt, or hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent for a deeper clean. Air dry fully before putting it back on — avoid tumble drying or direct heat, which can affect the buckle and stitching over time.
Is this suitable for puppies?
Only for a puppy that's already reached the M size neck measurement (31cm+) and is a medium-to-large breed. Growing puppies change neck size quickly, so check the fit regularly and size up as needed rather than buying ahead for a fully grown dog.
Does it work with an ID tag?
Yes — the D-ring holds a standard ID tag or lead clip the same as any buckle collar. It isn't sold with a tag included, so you'll need to add your own if your dog doesn't already have one.
